blanka's story is pretty cool.
i had thought he was a wild beast, only to find out that he was really a human named jimmy.
and the fact that he was taught to use his electric powers by electric eels is awesome.

I thought that was pretty wild, too (the electric eel connection to Blanka's electrical powers). Also, because the rainforest minimized his daily exposure to sunlight and its healthy properties, Blanka began a regimen of smearing chlorophyll all over his body in order to maximize the effect of what little direct exposure to the sun he received. Somehow, and they never tell us why but we can always assume it had something to do with the changes to his body chemistry as a result of his acquired bioelectric power, the change to his skin became permanent and his body began to manufacture his own chlorophyll.

How his other mutations occurred was never made clear but, for a child who was raised by both electric eels and wolves (in the jungles of Brazil?!), he managed to do all right by himself. I like, also, that his mother, who was reported to have died in the plane crash, turned up very much alive and was reunited with her son.

I get as blubbery as Zangief about happy endings like that.

Dhalsim.  Being able to reach opponents from across the screen was one of my favorite things to do. Worked espeically well on Sho-ryu-ken happy Ken/Ryu's who I would smack with long streched out arms. I was also a big user of fireballs to try and distract players from me but also keep them at a distance so they couldn't get to close. In some versions of the game i could kick Ken or Ryu out of mid-air during one of thier spinning bird kicks.

Later on I could do a triple combo by doing a slow fireball which also did a slow burn on players. I would then teleport in from behind and headbutt them to complete the combo.

I always had a hard time against my brother Blanka cause he'd hit the punches and kicks back but also travelled along the screen quickly. I sometimes set fire to his roll attack. Otherwise it was a matter of keeping a strong block and trying to avoid getting trapped in corners.

Remind me not to mess with you, LOL! That is impressive, TR!

And, yeah, with a strictly close combat warrior like Zangief, I've seen Dhalsim destroy the Russian without ever having crossed the fighting stage! Unbelievable!

Oh yeah forgot to mention my favorite characters on the show.

Chun-li for reasons DUH

Vega for his accent, obession over his looks, and great lines like "Thank you for the Gorgeous time".

Sagat cause he looks beside people when talking to them (Zangief peers over his shoudler at "himself").. And for the kitty tiger kick.

I'm also sympathic towards Ken and look forward to seeing where his story goes.

Games
My absolute favorite is Guile, but I also like Charlie, Sawada, Ken, Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Rose, Cody, Guy, Sean, Yang, Eagle and Joe (the kickboxer from the first game)

The Later Years
Balrog - "What's a Kick?"
Zangief - "All this time I've been calling him Reyuu"
Dhalsim - "YOGA NOOGIE!!!!"
Guile - "Yoga Noogie?! What are ya', six?!"
"Imposter Ryu" - "Learn Hadouken, Ansatsuken and hey, is that Rasputin?"

Sawada I've only seen in the movie, I've never played him.
I've never been able to find a copy of the game that's based on the live action movie.

He's in two games based off the movie. The Arcade one more like Mortal Kombat and the home console one for the Sega Saturn and PS1 that was more close to the original fighting game. I had fun playing the Saturn version, but the game is an acquired taste.

Cool, it plays just like Super SF2 Turbo, but again, it's an acquired taste.
