I would so like to think that our series had something to do with this. I only know that, in late 2006 and early '07, Sota had said that they were not planning on creating a Zangief figure at the time (I presume that they made this announcement due to repeated requests). Then, later in '07, they announced his development and release in the planned "Street Fighter Revolution-1" series and, again, I can only surmise that it was in response to popular demand for now they were also bringing out Dhalsim, E. Honda and, of course, huge Zangief fan R. Mika.

The series was just released yesterday and it looks really exciting! They only recently arrived at a head sculpt for Zangief that pleased both themselves and the folks at Capcom. His head is now larger in proportion to his body (Capcom's request) and he bears a more ferocious expression on his famous bearded face.

Even Sakura has always had a major crush on him. Should be interesting to see if she still has feelings for him when we see her in "Street Fighter Reunion".

No, actually it's SOTA's way of differentiating from their other figure release lines that were manufactured long after characters like Zangief had been eliminated from the whole Street Fighter franchise. Revolution-1 seems to address a renewed interest in some of the phased out characters, although Dhalsim survived all the way to the end, however marginalized he had become by the turn of the millennium.
