I guess if you think that a being a loser is qualified by a certain lifestyle then that is your choice. Who care what they do if anything. There are a lot of people in the world that appear to do nothing but make money. Looks can be deceiving and who knows you might find that some of these characters are happy where they are.

With the exception of Blanca. He might be kind of guy who wouldn't be happy with anything he is doing. Regards to Ryu he was always successful if you imagined him as a person in real life. He's got the looks and the martial arts thing to fall back on. Just funny how Ryu turned into the corrupt money hungry person that you would have thought M. Bison would still be.

I don't think the video series would be as funny if they were all successful in their "Later Years".
It'll be interesting to see if their fortunes turn around and Ryu doesn't do so good.

Well, as evidenced by the latest episode, the Ryu we've been seeing for most of the show is apparently E-Honda with liposuction who has mastered the hadou. LOL, that's REALLY wacky, I like it! Honda was always a good-natured man, I couldn't see him succumbing to capitalism and having a random fat Japanese man killed, but meh. I just wonder how it is going to pan out with the real Ryu coming out from under the woodwork (or dungeon rather).

Initially, when Vega showed Dhalsim and Zangief "Honda's" body, I'd portrayed Zangief's reaction as being as much grieved as he was shocked. After all, Edmund was Nikolas' only other wrestling buddy during their SF2 days and they were tight buddies (both are heavy drinkers so I can easily imagine the two of them having closed many a bar together after their fights and putting away a lot of vodka and saki).
Sam, however, directed me to tone down Zangief's reaction to that of only shock which kind of works considering Zangief's general cluelessness. It would be conceivable that it would take Zangief more time than most to actually digest the implications of his friend's death.
Honda, apparently, had fallen upon hard times in much the same way as had Zangief. Maybe Honda's famous temper kicked in while considering his fate and the offer being made to him was more than he could resist.
Damn, I can come up with an excuse for anybody! I should have been a criminal attorney.
Zangief, too, has not been above being corrupted by capitalism despite the fact that he's a hardline communist. The only difference being that Zangief, even with his high minded principles, is too stupid to figure out that he's working for the bad guys.
In any event, the real Ryu is free now so watch out, Honda!

Though I don't think that, even if lipo-sucked, E. Honda would look like Ryu. Haha, though it DOES make for a hilarious storyline! I wonder if Honda knows all of Ryu's moves or just the Hadoken. I'd be funny if he tried his sumo moves but was too skinny to pull them off with proper efficacy! LOL

That would be an interesting twist!
The part of the script that never made it past editing is Ryu's explanation to Ken that he and Edmund had trained among some of the same circles in Japan so it was relatively easy for Honda to seek out those who would train him in the art of the Hadou.

Hrm... but Ken trained WITH Ryu in childhood, so wouldn't Ken have been privy to this knowledge already? It will be interesting to see the special effects team pull off two Kevin Yamadas fighting each other. Though that effect is a very old one and has been done for years now, so I am sure they will manage to do so seamlessly!

According to the story as I know it, Ryu learned the ways of the Hadou just prior to Ken's having explored it.
Either way, expect some fun battles ahead.

I wish to God we could because Ryu's big brother, with his healthy ego and quick sense of humor, would be the life of any party, certainly ours. Sam has made certain, however, to limit the scope of this series to the "Big 12" of Street Fighter II. This way he avoids getting the story lost in obscurity (there are almost 40 SF characters now, right?) and it remains accessible to the core fans of the SFII era (see Sam's interview at Street Fighter Devotion) as well as that fan following's experience.

Wait... Dan isn't Ryu's big brother, he is a different character entirely and a freestyle 'martial artist' specializing in Saikyo ('ultimate') style. That just sounds funny to say! And yeah, I think Dan would've been GREAT in this, though I don't know what he would be... a pizza delivery guy maybe? lol

Oh yeah, and Dan's father (who is never really shown at all) was purportedly killed by Sagat, so he has a vendetta against Sagat which would've played nicely into the story.

Looks like Sagat's made quite a few enemies over the years.
